1. Nicknamed
Kota Kembang which literally means City of
Flower, Bandung used to have a lot of flowers and trees.
2. Bandung
has also earned another nickname as Paris van Java (Paris of
Java). The nickname was given by the Dutch for its resemblance to Paris.
3. Bandung
has cooler climate than most Indonesian cities because of its elevation of 768
meters above sea level.
4. Bandung
itself is an architectural jewel. The city is renowned for its Dutch colonial
architecture.

most popular local transport is angkot, derived from angkutan kota literally
meaning city transport. It is a kind of small minibus. There are no other
buses. Taxis are widely available though.

vendor is a common scene in Bandung, especially at traffic light junctions.
There are those who sell newspapers, cigarettes, toys, shampoos and some even
perform monkey tricks.
7. Taxi
with metered fares are cheaper than normal taxis. Bluebird Taxis are the only
taxi that use the method of metred fares.
8. Bandung
placed 9th in the list of the countries with the largest Art Deco
architecture in the world.
9. The
famous Hollywood actor, Charlie Chaplin has visited Bandung for 3 times.
10. It is the second largest metropolitan area in
Indonesia.
